Visa Requirements for International Delegates

All international delegates, except most New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) before travelling to Australia. Please ensure your documentation is arranged well in advance.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA – subclass 601)

  • For short-term tourist or business visits.

  • Available to passport holders from eligible countries.

  • Issued electronically, usually within minutes.

eVisitor (subclass 651 – Business stream)

  • Free visa for eligible European passport holders for short-term visits.

Visitor Visa (subclass 600 – Business stream)

  • Required for delegates from countries not eligible for an ETA or eVisitor.

  • Allows attendance at conferences, seminars, trade fairs, or expos.

Temporary Activity Visa (subclass 408) / Temporary Work Visa (subclass 400)

  • Required if you are being paid, performing, or contributing as a speaker or exhibitor.

  • The 408 visa requires an invitation from an Australian organisation; the 400 visa does not.

Plan ahead: Apply at least 3 months before arrival to avoid delays.
